Famous as the longest-running musical on London’s West End, Les Misérables was the most ambitious production the Esperance Theatre Guild had ever undertaken, with a cast of 72 cast members who contributed over 6000 cumulative hours in rehearsal time. The complexity of the score, the precision in the timing, and the demanding vocal load are all factors that required the utmost commitment from the cast and crew.
Directed by Caitlyn Edwards and Musical Director Margaret Alderson were assisted by Artist-in-Residence, Brendan Hanson, a veteran of over 800 performances of Les Misérables in his professional career, provided mentorship and vocal coaching for the production.
Nastassja Norwood (nee Kruger, formerly a resident of Esperance – Stage Combat Instructor at WAAPA- spent a week at the Bijou training the cast in the fight choreography.
